Off to celebrate a friends birthday tonight and trying out the latest restaurant in west bridgford, Nottingham. Really looking forward to some yummy tapas, a glass of wine and of course the fabulous company of my friends. I shall share more about escabeche soon!!
So it’s usually about this time in the week that everyone starts asking that question… What you doing this weekend? Any plans? Up to something nice?
Usually my answer is well I’m off to the Wirral to see my family or got a night out planned or staying home this weekend to work on the house or plant something new in the garden. Well this weekend I’m doing something a bit special. I’m off to London with my sister and sister in law to see Wicked at the Victoria Apollo. We are so excited, cannot wait!! It’s been so long since the 3 of us spent some quality time together.
I think it is so important to remember not to take family for granted… I know through losing my mum 4 years ago that family won’t be there forever so you really need to take the time to see them and do fun things together. It doesnt have to something as big as a weekend away it can be tea and cakes at home or a picnic in the park. Just so long as you put that time aside to have a really good catch up.
I love my family so much, throw in a good musical and a glass of wine and I’m one happy lady!
Well whatever you have planned I hope you have a lovely weekend. Laura x
On Friday 23rd March at 11am, Anton du Beke will be opening the first ever charity shop for The Childrens Air Ambulance.
Then on Saturday 24th March, Bongo Bongo are taking over the shop and everyone is invited to join in between 10-4pm for singing, dancing, jumping, laughs and fun. This will be a family day not to miss out on!
The Bongo Bongo team will create a magical playful environment, which allows children and parents to interact and learn together through the means of music, movement, song & story telling. Make sure you stop the Bongo Bongo lollipop lady for a sticker too. We can’t wait to see you for silly fun and face painting! Tell all your friends at school and let’s make this a shop opening to remember.
Perhaps you have your blokes birthday, anniversary or your wedding coming up and are wondering what to buy as a gift… I bought the cuff-links below for Greg for our wedding and he absolutely loved them!
I ordered them through notonthehighstreet.com which is the ideal place to find personalised gifts for someone special.
For my nieces 9th Birthday my sister came up with the idea of having a Britain’s Next Top Model party.
On arrival at Hillam Road Studios (my sisters house) all the girls received a glass of Champagne (fizzy apple juice) and a chocolate truffle. They were then escorted into hair and make-up where they were transformed with a new style. Next it was over to the studio (the lounge) where Greg Bloor had created a photography studio complete with a TV showing the latest photo taken.
After the photo shoot each of the girls went through to the dining hall (the conservatory) where they decorated a bag to take their photos home in, followed by hot dogs & cake!
While the girls were having dinner, my brother-in-law nipped out to the supermarket and got all the photos printed ready to hand out to the girls along with a personalised ‘Congratulations BNTM’ certificate.
It was a fantastic afternoon and the girls were talking about it for weeks!
Are you looking for decoration ideas for a spring event? How about floral decoration with tulips! They are such a pretty flower and come in so many varieties and colours, there is bound to be a tulip to suit your event or party.
Not fancy tulips… how about Ranunculas? They are my absolute all time favourites and they look great with just a few flower heads in random size, shape & colour bottles.
I was just looking back at some of the inspirational images I saved for our wedding and saw this one of bridesmaids all in different style & colour dresses that compliment each other so well. A real delight and adds that something a bit different to the traditional.
I am off to the USA soon with my husband Greg and we will be heading to San Francisco as our first port of call. We’ve just been watching Man vs. Food and this place came up… not interested in doing the challenge as I know it would defeat me after about 5 bites but it looks gooood!
This year I am looking forward to being a volunteer for The Childrens Air Ambulance, getting involved in events & helping to raise awareness of the charity in my local community. TCAA are opening their first shop this month in West Bridgford, Nottingham & it sounds like it’s going to be pretty great! The shop will be opening on Friday 23rd March by none other than the fabulous Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke. After opening the shop, Anton will be hosting a lunch at the Country Cottage Hotel, Ruddington. To read more about this event visit click here.
The Children’s Air Ambulance is a dynamic, forward thinking organisation that prides itself on a team of talented people that strive to provide a distinct and innovative ethos. We believe that our future success depends on the motivation, knowledge and skills of our people, therefore learning and development is a key part of everything we do.
Receiving no Government or National Lottery funding, we rely solely on donations, sponsorship and fundraising events to get our service off the ground. We do not see this as a financial burden but instead enjoy the freedom it gives us to be completely patient focussed and create mutually beneficial commercial partnerships to support that aim.
TCAA exists to provide children with an air transfer service that will reduce travel times and allow specialist NHS clinical teams to travel with the child quickly. It is their mission to improve a child’s chance of survival and ease the stress of the child’s family.
